Why does my T4 sound like a old steam train?

I would suggest checking the play in the turbo shaft as well as the actuator and shaft, the turbo might be worn which is causing the odd sound.

I have located my turbo actuator and shaft, it appears to be fairly on the rusty side of things and there is slight play on the shaft if i touch it with my finger. Am i to presume there should be no play at all in this shaft?
