Default 2000 W reg V70 and caravan towing

Hello fellow Volvo owners!

I'm considering buying a larger caravan that the wheeled shed we have just sold. Can anyone advise me what the largest caravan that a 2000 W Reg V70 (2.4 engine but not the turbo one) can tow is?

Am I wasting my time looking at twin axle jobbies? Can you point me in the direction of any other posts on this issue.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Cheers

Default 2000 V70 and caravan towing

Hi, I have found the following figures from a magazine article- they are based on an 85% towing factor: 2.4s(170bhp)can tow 1296kg,2.5T Sport AWD-1408KG; D5 SE (Diesel)1369kg. Bear in mind that these are based on the 85% reccomended limit. I tow with a 2000(W)2.5td,the MAX. towing limit for this is 1600kg- yours may be a little less than this being a petrol engine. I did see a car the same as mine towing a twin axle 'van last week, but I dont know what the weight or performance was like. Hope this is some help to you.

Is it a Classic or a last shape one?

If it's a classic it's likely to be lighter than the P2 or current ones; in fact I think that the new Golf is heavier than a Classic!

hi
i have just put your car in what tow car and putting it up against the Bailey Pageant Limousin: it comes out at 96%. you can go to the web page and insert what you like. i had the 850 tdi and now have the v70T5 and both weigh the same this was done at the local weighbridge they both came out at just over 1600kgs.
the only issue with the combi above is the caravan ex works nose weight is 80kg,on my tow bar 75kg, i am looking into getting that van but will look into the noseweight issue.
hope that helps
mike

It's the Classic. I think it's 140 bhp? There were two bhps for the Classic and I know mine is the lower one. I'm looking at vans with gross weights around the 1350kg region.

What you reckon?
