Ordinary springs are those used with standard shocks. Soft springs are used with Nivomats. If you swap in standard shocks with soft springs, the back end will be lower. If you never load the boot/cargo area or have back seat passengers the ride will be comfortable but a bit uncontrolled at the back. Hard/HD springs generally for Estates that have a lot of heavy loads. Volvo used to list more than one rating of HD springs but probably now only available as aftermarket.

Years ago I installed HD springs in the rear of my 245. I ended up doing the front as well. I used bilstein shocks all round. I enjoyed the firm ride it gave, but would skip around on gravel and corrorgated roads.
I know it is the other side of the world but these are the springs I used https://kingsprings.com.au/catalogue...-265-1974-1989 Last edited by uncle.grumpy; Oct 4th, 2017 at 12:30. Reason: Add info |
