It only does it on xc90 as the driveshaft bolt has a stupid rubber washer that when its damp condensation forms and it carn't escape so causes the driveshaft end to rust into hub,

First thing i did with mine when i got it was remove all 4 bolts and remove the stupid rubber washers and pushed shafts back and copper greased them up and then refit bolts,

Don't know if it would cause any issues just removing the bolt on a seized shaft to see if it would come free while driving

OP, is your stuck one front or rear?
I've done a '08 front recently and it came apart easily. Not tried the rear yet.

I'm going to attack it this weekend , been soaking it in plus gas for two weeks and I've just bought a 5 stud sealey puller off Amazon , see what happens , ironically I rustproof every year , never thought of the abs rings , they're all in a terrible condition , don't know how they work

Assuming you get the shaft out I would definitely replace the ABS ring at the same time. They are very cheap. Painting them will not help though. They fail because the hub under the ring rusts and expands, cracking the ring apart.

Good luck.

Failed miserably at the weekend, the hub feels like its welded to the shaft , I'll try a couple more goes at penetrating oil and puller then find a garage !

I would better of go with a whole replacement of drive shaft from breakers.
It won't come out. I had experience with this.
No hydraulic press is useful. The shaft will come separated so you can change the ring before installation.
