Default Annual test emissions limits.

My V40 BiFuel failed it's annual ITV (MOT) test on exhaust gas leakage and therefore no gas test. Simple repair, replaced the center section.

On retest (LPG) the emissions were listed as: Idle contaminants 0.01% and at 3000rpm 0.01%, Lambda: 1021. It passed.

Looking back I've had contaminants up to 0.08 and a Lambda as low as 1003 and 1008.

What is the VOLVO recommended Lambda upper limit on LPG?

Any comments on the above figures?

As an MOT tester we test emissions using manufacturers specifications , your emissions sheets should specify the maximum allowed limits for each catagory

If I remember , i will look them up tomorrow

Test done at a Spanish Gov't testing station. Their analyzer tells the tester the procedure to follow with time intervals between test and duration of test, green lights etc. Max of 3 tests permissable. Testers have previously requested LPG off for test, others don't. I doubt they consult some huge database for all manufacturers. There must be "norms" for cat/non cat engines and whether it's Euro3/4 etc.

Thing is my VVT is "purring", as they do. So I'm assuming that it would upset the idle speed gas test and produce a higher figure but still not enough for a failure or an EML trigger.
My next job, VVT replacement.
