Windscreen rubber seal / glue
Hey guys,
Noticed today the rubber windscreen seal strip was hanging off from the windscreen. The rubber itself seems fine, just seems like the glue / putty stuff has lost its weakened. Any ideas what the stuff is? So i can get some and re-apply it. (the windscreen isnt OEM either, so suspect its a crappy job by whoever replaced the windscreen). Cheers

I had that as well on my old C70. It had to have the screen replaced after a big stone hit it just 2 days after I bought it - annoyed was NOT the word! . (They actually had to do it twice because the first replacement cracked under stress within a couple of days!). Anyway, all that they used to stick the side trim rubber back on with was double-sided foam tape. That started to give up within 2 years. I stuck the top 6"-9" on each side back down again with 3M 5952F and this was still holding fine when I traded the car in over 2 years later. I haven't found anything yet that this stuff wouldn't stick

Cheers,
Mine has been stuck on with some kind of black putty like compound. Not sure what it is, but it annoys me, since some of it is on the frame pillars, and is hard to get off! If I can just take it off, and replace it with that, which looks far neater, then great!

I just popped out for a look at the rubber trims on the new car which is on its original windscreen. It looks like Volvo used something very similar to that 3M stuff in the first place. So you should be fine using it to replace whatever gunk your trims were stuck back on with when they fitted your windscreen.
I'd be inclined to keep a bottle of IPA handy to assist with degreasing/dissolving to get back to clean surfaces. Being able to cut the replacement tape to fit the rubber off the car will be a bonus. Once you've got the first corner lifted, you should be able to pull off the backing tape while holding the trim in the correct position. Hope it goes well

I presume you mean Isopropyl Alcohol? I wouldn't waste an India Pale Ale on the problem ;-)
