Recommendation for remote fob repair?
The normal remote fob has stopped working. Sprayed with contact cleaner and changed battery with no result.
The spare has always been a bit dodgy which is why it is a spare. Again sprayed and changed battery and it always seems to lock but only unlock occasionally, so I guess it could just be a microswitch. Anyway, can anyone recommend a repairer? I am in N Herts and it would be ideal if there is one local of course, but otherwise mailorder is fine. Thanks Joe |

I have found, through experience, that sometimes just a spray of contact cleaner is not quite enough.
When I had the problem, I soaked the circuit board in cleaner for a couple of hours and then sprayed it to blast the gunge out. Then let it air dry, reassemble and all was ok.

Well google led me to
http://www.automobilelocksmith.co.uk...r-service.html I posted the dead remote on Wednesday lunchtime and it was back today (Friday) in a shiny new case and fully working. Pretty good service! I will now try a more thorough contact-cleaner-soak on the intermittent one and if no improvement it will be off to him also. Joe |

I am reasonable at soldering but no way could I do something that small without messing up the whole assembly. Joe Last edited by Joe H; Oct 24th, 2017 at 11:38. |
