I recently discovered that my V70 had automatic wipers... the button on the stalk has been hiding behind one of the steering wheel spokes since I bought it in June. Also have a 1998 V70 T5 and it's automatic... aside for P, N, R and D I have no fooking idea how to work all the other functions.

I’m still finding out things about my V60 Cross Country, it’s probably be easier to read the Owners manual but where’s the fun in that?

I must have been doing something wrong as I thought that would be the logical thing but couldn't seem to get the seat back far enough to do that, another little puzzle for the weekend

Back when the Volvo FM truck was new I had one at work, with all its fancy new gizmos I made sure I got the handbook and read it, but it was a couple of years before a new guy came out with me for the day and told me how to change the speed of the intermittent windscreen wipers. I checked and that wasn't even in the manual!

It is the seat height which is the trick you need to master - pushed back, with rear of seat as high as possible and front as low as possible - then push headrest under the glove box and push seat forward to get flat load area

A 'unique selling point' made even better. Thanks.

Typical eh? I can relate to that

It's the things that aren't in the manual that make life interesting.....

(I still can't find out exactly how the jack fits into the front jacking points even though it is in the manual!)

I don't think the dipping the door mirrors trick is in the manual for my XC60.

Engage reverse - hit the door mirror button for left or right mirror & it dips to show the kerb.

Yes you can set it in 'My-Car' but a lot of the time you don't want the mirrors to drop every time you go into reverse.

Also didn't know about the auto opening of windows trick from the remote on a hot day.

Thing that alway's annoys me though, why doesn't the clock self adjust using the RDS signal from the Radio, surely it's easy to do

I only recently noticed that if I unlock the car but don't actually open the door by the handle then the car will re-lock itself shortly afterwards.

Also the 'handbrake on' warning only works if you were stationary and drive off with the handbrake on but not when you apply the handbrake whilst moving.

I’ve mentioned before my dismay about the downright dangerous operation of the Start/Stop button on the XC60 Geartronic. If you pull up and are distracted enough to forget to put the transmission to P, then the engine does NOT STOP when you press the Stop button! Serious risk of car leaping forward as you get out! Don’t know of any other car that allows this.
(Might not be the case in the new generation model).
