Default Smell of curry and a bad cough !

I think you guys should know about this issue as I see it as a health issue.

I've had two C70s which have both had a stink of what can only be described as curry.

This gets really strong when you have the heaters on. Also had a really bad cough which I first put down to early mornings and a bug.

However to cut a long story short...the coolant was vaporizing through a tiny tiny hole in the heater matrix. What itd under pressure it's fine but when it exits via a tiny hold it vaporizes. The car obviously would be using coolant but the tiny amount it was using didn't show up substantially to raise warning flags.

If you used a bright led light at night in the car with the heater on you could see the vaporized coolant in the air

Obviously breathing in coolant I wouldn't recommend...but im glad I sorted it.

Takes less than an hour to swap matrix over...just remember to get the two seals for thr rear connections .

With the age of these cars now a new one would probably give you a much better heat output anyway.
The A/C can be a bit foosty on them as well.
Worth putting a spray through the evaporator as well at some point.

Hy,

VV70, newbie.

I may think that a seal doesn't do its work fine, and there some liquid that comes on a part of the exhaust somewhere. I would have a look to the 2 hoses that comes in the interior of the car, coming from the engine.

I would control also in the car, the carpet behind each side of the central top column.

Here the catalog of C70 to 2005. For references.

I would control these parts :

I hope it will helpful.

Cheers.
