Default 12 V Battery Charging Fault

Oh dear, I thought this issue had been fixed and wouldn't effect me, but guess what error message just cropped up !

12 V Battery Charging Fault. Stop Safely.
Followed by lots of 'pings' and 'Wiper Failure' then 'Turn Indicator Failure'

I was pondering how to stop safely on the busy main road whilst my indicators didn't work....so thought I'd ignore it and just go home, which was only a mile or so away.

Roundabouts are interesting too without indicators, but I do now know what it must be like to drive an Audi or BMW.

So, 20minutes on hold to VOC and now waiting for a technician. Oh, and we are off on holiday at 8am tomorrow morning...

Sorry to hear this. There is something fundamentally wrong with the design of the cars electrical system if lights and indicators can fail like this.

Not hugely impressed with VOC so far.

20mins on hold to get through to them,

Followed by 2.5 hrs before the tech arrived (phone person said 'guaranteed to be with you within 90mins’)

Half an hour of the tech looking at it, clearing the fault and then saying a software update might fix the issue

Now it’s just before 5pm. Tech leaves and promises all will be well.

6pm recovery truck chap arrives (local company) and says he'll take it to their yard and deliver to the dealer tomorrow, which is fine.

So, now no car....

7pm rang VOC (why doesn’t the app show a damn phone number for them?) to double check all in hand for a hire car. Operator says ‘oh someone should have called you by now but I see the system says they haven’t’. She then says that she’ll follow up now but they may not be able to get a car delivered as it’s getting late. I pointed out that they’ve no known for over 2 hours that a car was needed....and we are off on holiday at 8am tomorrow.

The saga continues....

Update, 8:30pm

Volvo rang.... can't get a car here until after 10am tomorrow morning at the earliest. Their solution is to get a taxi to the airport Thrify location.... 1.5hrs away this evening. They apologised for not contacting Thrify until 7:21 nearly two and a half hours after they should have.

Words can’t express how useless and non-premium this experience has been.

It's a very poor show.

Said it before, Volvo are positioning themselves as a premium provider but they've a long way to go in some (many?) areas.

I agree entirely.
I would rather they under-promised then over-delivered but almost every touch point I have had with them in the past two years has been the other way around.

Oh, and still no hire car.

Next time I will avoid VOC entirely and just go directly to the dealership.
