I've just had a play with an OBD reader and Car Scanner and Torque before booking it in. No faults recorded or pending.

EGR seems to be responding fine and it's showing 9g of soot in the DPF since a regen 400 miles ago. So it seems to be running quite clean.

I'll see what effect the software update has.

MPG still 40-42 avg. after the recall updates, so no change there and on 106K.

Cars do less MPG at this cold time of year

And when running on winter diesel!

The recent recall 'fixes' (including the software update) had no obvious effect upon my mpg or performance. But I believe the replacement EGR cooler and EGR valve last year DID cause worse mpg.

Thanks for your replies, must admit am unsure of what to do next, the dealer does keep taking the car in to review and most of the time it returns better.... initially it got to the point where it felt it was in limp home mode, lack of power and very hesitant .... mixed in with stuttering performance when frustration led me to use sport mode, felt like the car was trying to clear its throat, then suddenly ...have some power.

This all clears up after a visit to the dealer who do not charge me for anything.... so does make me think there is more to this.

MPG was always at around 44.... sometimes bit lower if i swapped cars with my Wife for the week.... but never dropped below 42... now she is running at 32.... which I think is very low.

Time will tell if this keeps happening, if it does think will sell her.

Had mine in for the recall today. It was only in for around 45 minutes as it just had the software update.

I must admit I thought it would end up as a compromise but the drive ability seems to have improved and the hesitation has gone. Unless it's the placebo effect!

I have to say, it pulls like a train. It's a shame the car has been dogged by all these EGR issues, it really is a great engine underneath. Let's hope it stays trouble free for the rest of my ownership.

I thought they were meant to also clean the TMAP and EMAP sensors? They claim to have done that to mine (although during the service conducted at the same time they also claimed to have filled the washer bottle and put 5.2L of oil in the sump...)

The VEA does seem very sensitve to temperature when it comes to MPG by all accounts. Also Winter diesel is on sale until mid march so probably see how much it changes in April.

First time on here in a while. So driving back from my Mandated Daily Exercise today our 2014 XC60 D4 lost virtually all power and went into limp mode. Stuttering, stalling couldn't get it above 5mph

Made it the 1/2 mile or so home (mostly coasting) and almost, but not quite, up our drive. Only then did I notice strong rubbery burning smell....

Volvo Assistance have been and taken it away on a flatbed to a dealer 20 miles away as ours is shut due to COVID.

We shall see what they have to say but sounds very inlet manifold recallish to me?!
