You don't say whether it is a 2.0lt or T5, manual or auto and how spirited you drive. All of these will affect economy drastically.
My 2.4 manual does about 30mpg on normal driving. If I give the turbo a bit of fun the gauge drops like a stone.

I can get 33mpg with my manual T5 if I am sensible. So I would think the 2.0lt would be better.

I have 2.3 T5 coupe automatic.
Been doing 800 miles a week for the last 8 years. I average 32-35mpg between fill ups and that's with a smooth, sensible driving style but not exactly slow. This 70% London motorway and 30%urban but all in heavy traffic periods.

Have a 2.0T LPT, is horrible around Glasgow, mix of motorway and town driving between 12 and 15 mpg. Can get 200 miles up north on £20 on the motorway. Which I find strange but it’s what I bought it for.

So you are getting an average of 12 to 15 mpg with a mix of motorway and town. Yet at 70mph you are getting an average of around 55mpg. Are you sure you have got your figures right?

No exact idea I admit but I do know for sure that I better 15mpg round town in my 2.4 manual V70 on a run somewhere in the low to mid 30s-although on one run at mainly 60-65mph I did get just over 40mpg.

Filled in Glasgow stopped to fill in Huntly that’s 180 miles-ish. Cost me like £22-ish. 22/1.20 =18.75 18.75/4.54=4.1299... Say 185/4.12=44.90... 44.9 mpg. Last edited by Motas88; Mar 6th, 2020 at 09:41. |
