unofrtunately, Chris Knott could not save me anything. Renewal price with current insurer is £405 for a S40 2.0D SE SPORT, 26 yrs old with 8 yrs no claims. Chris Knott wanted over £700.

Out of interest, I tried Chris Knott as well as confused.com for a quote yesterday .
I have Full no claims bonus, no convictions and no medical issues apart from being a "Sagalout". Best quote from Confused.com was £248 fully comp for my 2006 S60 D5. Chris Knott wanted £387 even after Volvo discount The guy i spoke to at Chris Knott's even said, you are pretty much the perfect customer with that driving History. Yes, i Know!!!! So on that basis why did they want over 50% more than a "Non Volvo Club Insurance company". If they cannot do me a good deal who the hell are they able to look after? Seriously unimpressed ! You want some feedback?
I would love to comment on your quote but can't. I rang and gave my details, told them where I heard about your company and was told it was extremely busy and you would phone me back. Over a week has passed and I'm still waiting for that phone call. I'm not falling over myself to call you back given your blasé attitude to new business.

Will give you a call next year though. I always do a good comparison but have only found 1 occassion where A-Plan couldn't get me competitive cover.

Much of the answer is in 'claims farming'. See http://www.insuranceage.co.uk/insura...actice-immoral as one example.

Some more feedback for you.
My Fathers Insurance has just come up from renewal on his S80, think he's currently with Saga at the moment, and he asked me for some advice on companies to ring around with as i'd just gone about insuring my 740. I said why not try Chris Knott again as he'd been previously insured with them before and they'd been competive. He said he wouldnt deal with them at all on principle. I asked him to remind me why and he reitterated the facts to me. He had a no fault accident on his part some, a Lorry went into the side of him(smashed the light cluster and scratched the bumper), he got the drivers details, insurance company details etc and proceeded to Ring Chris Knott to process the claim, he took the car to the local Volvo Dealers Bodyshop, the quote was done, agreed with insurers and the car booked in and it was repaired. My Father paid his Excess whilst Chris Knott said it was being taken care off dealing with the other insurers, despite numerous calls, emails, letters to Chris Knott they never seemed interested in chasing the other insurers. My Dad lost patience and decided that the £300 excess wasnt worth the stress of dealing with Chris Knott. I guess he was fortunate he had protected NCB and subsquently has managed to avoid claiming so he didnt lose them either. The final straw for him though was a few years after the accident that he started to get phone calls from " Accident Claim Companies" pestering him about getting compensation for his injures from the accident. Needless to say my father is a very private person and makes sure all companies he deals with do not share his information. It would appear that his Accident information was sold on. |

Hi,
You've not heard much from us recently on the forum as we've sought to adjust to the monumental changes in the insurance market of recent months but we think we're through the other side now. We note the comments made above, some of which may be justified and some not. Tim is no longer involved in the business and we're operating slightly differently now in terms of forum interaction - we're using his login until Admin changes the username. So, here's our message to forum members setting out our new offering. Hopefully, most of you will benefit from asking us to quote when your car and home insurance falls due:- When you go and compare the market online, are you still left confused as to what’s actually included and whether they’re quoting you the final price? Have they jacked up the excess to get the price down? Do you know what you’re signing up for? A simple alternative is to ask a specialist broker like Chris Knott Insurance for an instant, crystal-clear car insurance quote. As car club experts we have almost 30 years experience of looking after the needs of over 200 car clubs, their members and enthusiasts. You’ll get a better level of service with Chris Knott and everything can be explained in person. If it comes to a claim we can also call on the club for expert knowledge if we need to in order to get you an enhanced settlement – you won’t find that anywhere else! Our staff are not incentivised to sell volume. Instead we encourage them to offer you top-quality personal service, solid advice and all the ongoing support you need throughout your time with us. After all, your car is more important to you than the average driver - you want the care and attention your car deserves. Simply call FREE on 0800 023 4374 (or 01424 205077 for mobiles) to access the club’s scheme We promise to put your needs first and we’ll work hard on your behalf to find the policy that is most suitable for your requirements; not necessarily the one that earns us the most commission. We want to treat you fairly – the same way we’d expect to be treated ourselves. To ensure that you get the best insurance service at a reasonable cost, call us FREE at renewal so our highly-trained insurance experts can offer you a quote. CHRIS KNOTT’S BROKER BENEFITS • Instant, crystal-clear quotes • Human contact & personal service • Independent, solid advice • Multi-policy discounts/loyalty rewards • Protecting your interests • All the ongoing support you need • Claims assistance • Accountable to your club • Highly-trained insurance experts To benefit, you should call FREE on 0800 023 4374 (or 01424 205077 for mobiles) and make the right choice for your car.
