I got myself a few of festons. And by trying them I found the brightest ones. Every time when I open a glove compartment I get surprised by the look of it. It's to bright for it. But doing well in the boot and the footwell. I tried some "superbright smd led" with 3 huge LEDs. It is bright and it is £5 off eBay but it is not as bright as those one.
Try those for your festoons. They are not those that I bought, but similar. Watch for the size you need. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...d=220841401503 |

As long as the lights on the front are not blue, then I don't see any reason why it would be a pborblem. With regards to the sidelights, again, as long as they are not blue or white, they are fine. Obviously you use white LEDS, but since the sidelights are yellow, the light emanating from them will be yello. I have converted all the 501 and festoon bulbs in my car with LED's and they look much better and passed the last MOT with no issues at all

I changed my sidemarkers to clear, and put in white LEDs, they passed the MOT fine, and I've been driving round for a year with no issue.

But I can't remember what size you need, so you'll have to measure the current ones before ordering! |

Footwell is 42mm, same as glovebox and both inner boot lights (On a V40 anyway - dont know what an S40 has in the boot)
I have piercing white high-brightness LED boot lights, electric blue LED footwell and red glovebox LEDs (so as not to blind me while night driving) The numberplate lights on a V40 are 39mm so dont buy extra 42mms for there

On a general point of principle you should NOT use CANBUS LEDs except where absolutely needed (IE, brake lights)
Canbus ones have a big resistor in parallel with the LED to make the electrical resistance the same as that of a filament bulb... they do this so the car's canbus circuit that detects blown bulbs doesnt flag them as failed. The side effect is they produce the same degree of heat and consume the same electrical power as filament bulbs - robbing you of two of the three benefits of LEDs... and some cheaper canbus LEDs are reckoned to get too hot and be inadequately cooled, shortening the life and possibly damaging nearby plastics On a x40 Phase 1 or 2, sidelights, interiors, tail lights, are not Canbus monitored.
