Default Amazon 220 estate project

With a heavy heart I have finally admitted that my estate needs to go. I bought it years ago, ran it for 2 years as my daily and had started to restore it but I bought a 4 door which is now nearly finished. I don't have the will to restore a second Amazon so it has to go - but be quick or I'll talk myself out of selling. Again. The car is a 1968 but is on a J plate as it spent its first years abroad - Jersey I was told.

Unlike most estates this car needs almost no welding. The previous owner had the following replaced - new wings and front panel, new inner wings, lower tailgate repaired, new rear arches and the lower panel behind the rear wheels. The bulkhead, floors, sills, and chassis are sound and largely original, and the car has been heavily rustproofed at some point. A rather ugly small patch has been applied in the (shotblasted) engine bay which wants tidying and the triangular panel on the inner wing between bulkhead and chassis rail wants replaced - and I genuinely believe that is the extent of the welding required on the bodyshell.

All four doors are very sound but all will require small localised repair - no lower skins or frames required. One of the rear doors will require panel beating to a few dents but the lack of rot makes it worth doing. There are 2 top tailgates - one pretty good, one not so.

The interior is in red and has 4 excellent door cards and front seat sections. The rear of the rear seat has a few burst stitches and is lightly faded. There is no dashtop, rooflining or floor mats.

There is a full set of stainless bumpers (with estate rear overriders) with the car.

The engine is a single carb B18 with overdrive which ran well, although 3rd gear was noisy and the carb is now missing. The car may have had twin carbs originally as there were 2 choke cables when I got it.

There will undoubtedly be a few parts missing but I believe this is a fantastic start to an estate restoration - there are genuinely few man hours needed before prepping for paint. The car is currently a bare rolling shell so is easily loaded on your trailer.

The car is in Dumfries, SW Scotland, 30 miles from the M6. Viewing is welcome, just email or call 07717163232 - keep trying if you can't get through as mobile reception is ropey round these parts. Please email me at bob.sloan@hotmail.co.uk - I don't have enough posts to use pm's.

I'd like £1500 for it, based on the condition of the shell, interior and bumpers -all the hard work really is done.

Thanks folks - it really is a good project. But please don't tell me how nice it will be or I'll talk myself into keeping it!

Look forward to hearing from him/her.

Enjoy your 4-door (and you now have about 500 hours of free time to drive it you didn't have before).

Thanks James. The new owner does post on here but I will leave it to them to start a thread.

I am kicking myself already as I knew I would, but I have other car (and aircraft) projects I need to focus on after the saloon is finished. I really will need to start a thread on my 4 door so that you can see how far from driving it actually is....

Buyer has backed out (not due to the car I hasten to add!) so this is available once again. Email or pm me with any questions or to arrange a viewing.

Thanks

Default New asking price - read on......

So, despite advertising the estate in a bid to reduce the fleet, I managed to buy a 2 door B20 not five miles away which has lain unused since work stopped after all the welding was completed. Bodily, the new car needs a respray, but I will also use the stainless bumpers, overdrive gearbox and the better of the front seats from the estate in order to have it completed over the winter. I will replace these with the best of the used chrome I have, a non overdrive box, and the second best of my seats.

In view of the above I am prepared to drop the price for the estate to £1100 ono. Please email or call anytime to view or ask questions - and remember, Dumfries is only 30 miles from Carlisle.
