Default Heater / AC fan (again)

Afternoon all,

Some of you may remember recently I posted about some erratic behaviour and a significant leak on my AC system. Well I recently replaced a knackered hose and had the AC system regassed and it has been like a fridge ever since, lovely stuff. However, some unusual behaviour like air only coming through the vents at certain times (without interfering with the recirculate, where the air points or any other controls) then occurred which I never got to the bottom of.

Now my blowers have stopped working entirely after I'd been parked up for a few hours over the weekend. You can turn them right up to max and can hear nothing is going on. After some searching it turns out this is a fairly common issue and many point to the blower resistor being at fault. (Some fantastic information has been shared on here over the years so thank you all).

I've partially stripped down what I need to (taken the glovebox off etc) and done a general inspection of the area. I used the trick some others have done and checked the plug to check for signs of browning or smouldering and it looks brand new. I checked voltage at the plug and it receives a steady 12.4V with the car off so I can assume there is no wiring fault further towards the source. Checked the 30A fuse when it first happened and that's fine which tallies up with this.

My question is, even though there is no scorching or similar on the plug (see photo), could the resistor itself still be at fault or is it likely the entire blower is dead? If it helps, recently I had noticed if you have the blowers on low (maybe 1 or 2 LEDs showing) there was a slight roughness that could have been bearings, but not enough to make me concerned, which increased in frequency if you turned it up to about 3 then went away if you turned it higher (presumably forcing it's way through whatever was up with it).

Sorry for rambling on, just useful perhaps to give the full story rather than bits.
