New car compatibility
Has anyone tried Vida/Dice 2014D on a newer model from 2015/16?
What level of operation can you get, read and reset DTCs, change adaption values, etc. |

I have a question for anyone with a working setup. What exactly can you do with this? Obviously you can read and reset codes. Anything else?
Specifically I am interested in whether you can tell the car what head unit it has. I have just put a HU803 into my 2004 S80 and the buttons do not illuminate. Could it help diagnose why my steering wheel media buttons are not working? Also, the manual says that the "follow me home" light timeout is configurable by a dealer. Can this setup manage that? Long shot, but can this setup update the cars main firmware? Can this setup remap the ECU? If it does any or all of the above, I can see a purchase coming on... Cheers -- Phil

It can't reflash/update the ECM It can't download any software It can change user settings. The range of adjustments is dependant on model year. It can tell you if button presses are being acknowledged by the relevant module. It can read pretty much all sensor values and can activate motors, solenoids and switches. Swapping head units can be a minefield and Vida can't help with that. If you're serious about saving money and solving your own issues, Dice and Vida is invaluable and is arguably worth it just for the parts catalogue and workshop manual.

Wish I could be as positive as you lot with regards to Vida. Have had it and a DiCE unit for over a month now and no matter what I do, uninstall (all 11 programs!), wipe my laptop (the same one as Cheshired sells), do updates, uninstall .NET versions, I still get 'An unhandled exception has occurred' every time I switch to Fault Trace.
The system reads the car fine and appears to read all the fault codes, but will not let me go any further. Having spent £100+ on the software and a DiCE unit I really can't spend another £100+ on another laptop set up by someone else. No-one but no-one appears to be able to identify what the problem is. The laptop is an HP Compaq 6715b, 64 bit AMD Turion 64x2 with 3Gb of RAM and a 2Ghz processor. If anyone can come up with a resolution to this, large beers will ensue!

Are you anywhere near someone with a DICE unit? If so you could try their DICE on your laptop and their Laptop with your DICE unit. This would at least let you eliminate whether its the laptop or DICE unit causing the problem.

Trying to get an ISO of 2014D as I'm a little suspect of the multiple RAR files I received. Thanks
