Handbrake gaiter, centre console options
Morning all,
V70 D5 2004 The handbrake gaiter and frame have been broken previously, volvo item discontinued also clip tabs broken in centre console, and hacks for a replacement??? Can get a new after market gaiter for £60ish with frame but then still left with the console tabs issue, and tips tricks gratefully appreciated. |

part of the issue might be finding one the right colour as well as correct age (pre/post facelift?)
something like this but that also looks a bit knackered to be fair edit: scrap that it's LHD.. doh if it was me.. I'd probably get a new gaiter, split it on the underside and add fixings like a series of press studs, or a length of velcro maybe? then you could just glue the frame in, still be able to access the adjuster and/or remove the console if you needed to, and the join would be underneath so no-one will see it Last edited by stuart bowes; Apr 7th, 2022 at 16:51. |

The centre console is properly sh1te yes lol a real let down in an otherwise good car
Almost to to point where I seriously consider literally taking it out and making my own one. The only awkward bit would be matching up neatly with the centre of the dash. And obviously having a life to live and when it comes down to it realising there's more important things to worry about |

I have a facelift one and I assure you they are as equally Sh*te. The plastic frame on my gaiter cracked in three places, I tried gluing and plastic welding (?) with a soldering iron. It stayed together for a while but ultimately cracked again and the tabs all failed.
I have resorted to stainless self tappers, I have failed and my head is hung in shame. I did try double sided velcro, unfortunately there isn't enough purchase to secure it. |

Here's my attempt to replace the missing tabs on mine
seems to work well enough to keep the gaiter in place |
