Default Paint lower plastic trim.

Hi people, my 2011 xc90 looks like it just missed out of the painted (colour coded) plastic trim on the bumpers and door trim.

This is all recoverable to be removed and can be painted by a body shop which is no issue but there is one question I have.

The xc90s that had the colour coded bits are these a different part number to the std black parts or are they the same but volvo just shot them with a high build primer etc?

I think they will have different part numbers.
The problem is that the black plastic trim parts have a bubbly surface, I found that it's very difficult to sand, then paint. But it is entirely possible.

Might I suggest that you purchase used trim, in a different colour that you can sand back and re paint to match your colour?

Reason I ask is I know GM did not have different part for black plastics or colour code trim, they were either shot with high build primer then colour coded or just fitted as black.

Was thinking if volvo done the same or not?

You would be better off speaking to the parts department of a Volvo garage buddy

To confirm anything in VIDA, the person looking it up needs your chassis number / VIN...... otherwise, nothing can be confirmed.

The later trims are indeed different. The painted area is smooth, while the much smaller unpainted area is still textured so it's not just a case of masking off to mimic the new ones and painting.

You could paint the entire trim, but I'd get a bodyshop to do it myself.

So the trim from a early 2011 and late 2011 are different and are smooth?

Does any one on here have the painted bits from factory?

If so could I be so kind to have a reg (pm only) so I can use it to call a main dealer and ask for part numbers?

Just trying to make sure they are diffrent
