When I had the issue with MAF on V40, another member sent me a spare to try. Perhaps you know someone with the same engine who could loan you? Scrap yard replacement? Someone on ebay breaking?
It ran perfect with the new one in. I believe a way to determine is to drive with the MAF unplugged and see if it runs better. if it does the MAF is kaput. I also understand they dont take to well to being cleaned. I will try find the thread I had my issues in which where resolved. Hope you can get it sorted!

The 1.8 engine in the V50 does not have a MAF sensor. I think you're referring to the MAP sensor. Is it the little thing screwed into the bottom of the plastic manifold? If so it will be covered in oil, because (sensibly) they put it straight opposite the oil breather in there.
I'm having exactly the same issues though with (what was) my V50 1.8 and I'm at a loss! No engine light or fault codes though. EGR occasionally sticking open possibly? Or the throttle bodies sometimes play up. Don't want to go spending money on part after part trying to diagnose the problem though. EDIT: Hence why the sensor you're finding is only £25. MAP's are pretty cheap, MAF's are expensive.

So I'm having this very slight hesitation between 2500-3000 rpm. No codes, no major acceleration problems, however you can feel a very light dip in acceleration twice between 2500 and 3000rpm. looking at the rpm needle there is no noticeable 'dip'
It only happens after the engine is warmed up. And if you floor it with warm engine and the stumble around 2800rpm happens and you slowly lift your food of the accelerator it actually starts to accelerate a little bit better |

Hi clan , i hear your the best in the business on here so thought id ask. got a 2.0d 2008 v50 . it has single throttle body and cant see any signs of a dpf. we did find a dpf pressure sensor lying under a seat though when we bought it. I had an issue where revs would stutter at 1800 to 2000 rpm, a few ways resolved that, disconnected maf, driving hard or towing. now disconnected egr and blocked it and its fine that way. But my issue now is, and had it before the egr was blocked off. sometimes and getting worse now, the car doesnt start correctly, no throttle response, heavy black smoke out back, and some smoke from back of the engine, i think below the egr. throttle been cleaned but im told i should shave it a bit so it doesnt / cant stick. any other ideas, thanks |

Yes that is typical of the throttle flap you talked about sticking , take the unit off and file around the edge of the flap both sides so that when it is shut you can just see the smallest amount of light through the edges ...
