1997 Volvo 940 Estate LPT
Reluctantly, we have decided to part with our trusty Volvo 940. She has carried us up and down to Lincolnshire on many occasions as well as all the day to day running my wife does taking our daughter to nursery and doing the shopping run.....and the obviously massive boot for doing skip runs too!
This is my wifes car and as such I have had it maintained by our local Volvo specialist (D&S Motors Clydebank) regardless of cost. Just passed it's MOT, runs and drives beautifully and really does look so much nicer than the rest of the modern cars you see on the road (faster than most too!). Has had recent tyres, partial exhaust, new rear shocks and springs at the last MOT, I've had all the brake pads replaced at Kwik Fit with. Massive 17....yes 17 service stamps in the book plus loads of receipts. Original owner wallet and both keys present. Just passed 153k miles, which is nothing for these engines (2.3 LPT Redblock). Timing belt and aux belts were all done at 146,161, as well as the waterpump gaskets, turbo gaskets, full service inc gearbox oil/filter and the wipers were all changed with genuine Volvo parts. Previously a Volvo owners club car. Sills, floors ect are as new, all paintwork is 100% original, never been touched up (although I did buy a genuine Volvo touch up pen for a few chips, but never got around to it). Has the dog guard, rear pull out cargo cover, rear plastic load liner and full set of factory snow trays, as such the carpets are as new. Heated seats all work, we upgraded the radio to a Pioneer CD/USB/AUX head unit, but the original Volvo head unit with code has been kept and will be included if you want it. Lovey car to drive, I would (and have) driven it all over the country hassle free. Asking £1,100 which is what I've spent on it in the last year, but open to offers, want her to go to a good home. whow, a really good car.
If I wouldn't be on the other side of the channel I would visit you to buy this. Even with automatic, I prefer them now.. Snif, I can't find one pristine like yours here in Germany for this amount. hopefully it will find a good home, regards Kay |

Really nice car for the money. Hope it goes to a good home.
I would have an automatic any day, as my last 2 Volvos 240GLT and 940LPT SE have been auto and love the classy drive of a big go cart, wafting along. In fact in another year the Lexus Manual will be replaced with an automatic James. Last edited by volvo always; Sep 6th, 2019 at 01:00. |

Thanks for the positive replies guys, yes it's a nice car.....only been one enquiry about it in a week (got it listed elsewhere), the insurance swaps over tonight and the road tax will come off it tomorrow.
I'm picking the new car up tomorrow, so the 940 will be living at my parents house till it's sold......if its not sold by Sunday I'll stick it up on fleabay at 99p no reserve and let it go, if I get messed about on there.....and I cant believe I'm saying this......I'll have to scrap it as I cant keep it lying (I'll have our drive full with 3 cars and with the 940 in their drive, my parents will have 3 cars in theirs too, so totally jammed up). Amazing that nobody wants it, I had a terrible time finding one when we were looking to buy this, we've had 5 940's over the years so I was a bit picky, but they are definitely thin on the ground. probably have no issues if I was down south, but nobody up North seems to want one lol! |

Picked up the new car today, so the insurance is now swapped over. It's still got the road tax on it so can be driven away with a 1 day insurance on it. still got about 1/3 tank of fuel in it lol. Maybe I should sell my Trans-Am instead and keep it......or do an engine swap LOL
