Default Reversing Camera

I ordered a Wireless Reversing camera kit today as I feel vulnerable with just rear parking sensors, having got used to BMW toys on my X5's over the past 10 years, I rely quite a bit on my reversing camera due to the blind spots in big SUVS. It's this one if the link works, that is:

http://https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07425TPBT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't have any previous Volvo experience - where would the best routing be for the camera via the split tailgate? I am going to try to feed the camera wiring up the numberplate light as I do not want to drill holes in the tailgate - how can i route it to the reverse lamp via the best / most secure route?

I recommend you use a custom camera like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=xc90+ca...f=nb_sb_noss_2

It fits in place for one of the plate lights, and includes a LED light.
You can then just hook it up to the wireless transmitter and follow the OEM wiring path.
There are lots of good spots near the REM - you'll see the flat spots where the accessory modules would attach.

Thanks for that link but i have already bought the kit in the link I posted and was hoping to use that - shouldn't be much more complicated as it's a small camera and will fit easily just above the numberplate

My real question is about the wiring in the boot lid - in order to lead to one of the reverse light clusters, what trim do I need to prise off and do I need any special tools or anything? Does anyone know a few hints and tips to do this easily?

The screen is no problem at least in the interim as it can run off the 12v socket in the front for a while.

Hoping some more experienced volvo owners can advise the best route to do this.

no special tools needed.

Remove the boot lamp, there's a screw under it
Remove the screw under the grab handle
Pop off the interior panel

By OEM wiring path I mean this: http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-...-330208-1/2013

It will show you step by step how to get your camera wired to the factory PAM location (where there's a really nice location to tap into a reverse 12V and constant 12V for the REM).

That's a really helpful PDF - I wondered how to use that conduit in the roof area but wasn't brave enough to pull it out!! Will do it this coming week. At the moment the camera is wired up but that connection needs to be sorted so it looks decent - exactly the info i needed. I took power for the camera from the reverse lamp on the left side and it kicks in well. The quality of the picture is also excellent even at night - I am happy with the £61 kit so far, will see how it lasts!

How did you wire it up to the reverse lamp? not sure which to use. I tested it via rear fuse box but they all seem to be always on 12V connection. I ideally need to wire this via reverse lamps. ta

I just led the camera live to the rear light cluster reverse lamp and connected it directly, and earthed the ground wire to the body nearby - it was very simple, but routing it up via the numberplate light then around the tailgate and into the rear light cluster area was a bit fiddly. It works brilliantly and cost very little really - very good quality video. I would have liked the OEM camera but the price is insane and the installation even worse.
