Bulb holders for rear outer lamps v40
I'm after a pair of bulb holder units to fit the outer rear lens units on a pre 2000 car (ie. smoked not clear lens).
I recently bought a replacement middle and right section only to now find the car originally had all clear (phase 2) type and that the previous owner had actually wrongly fitted a smoked type to the left side. I find old and new types fit the body ok but the bulb holders dont so ive got phase 2 holders and phase 1 lights which dont mix. As I want a matching set of lights its easier to change the holders if some kind soul has some rather than go the other way which would be to get a clear left unit but that would mean my centre section was odd. HELP PLEASE!!!!!! |

Im sure they are identical plastic mouldings. I had a phase 1 and fitted phase 2 lights ok. The location of the brake light conrol unit was the only thing different. That and whether or not the LHD fog light plastic has been popped out.
I saw no difference in the cabling and bulb holders. Has your car been butchered for Lexus style rear lights or some such thing. |

No, bulb holder fits perfectly and without great effort into the phase 2 moulding but hits on something towards the centre of the moulding on a phase 1 moulding.
The only difference I can see is the phase 1 mouldings have a series of ridges around the centre bulb hole whereas the phase 1 is smooth. This looks as though it hits on the raised metal which goes around the bulbs. I'm wary about grinding away this area in case it weakens the light. |
