Default Really dumb question on 850 Automatic

Does the 850 T5 automatic have a kick down switch ? As I drive mine on handcontrols I've never be able to activate it

I imagine it does as most do except for the newest electronic gearboxes

If it's the same as a phase 1 S/V70 then yes, it does, and the kickdown switch is attached to the throttle cable.

Cheers

Yeah, it's on the bulkhead side of the cable, as capt jack says. As you press the accelerator, the cable draws tight and that takes up some sprung slack on the top of the cable activating the switch.

Much nicer system than the old days of dodgy extra cables and cams that needed adjusting!

You could wire it to a standard push to make switch for hand controls, but if the TCU gets the kick down signal while the throttle is at less than 80% open it'll throw a code.

Chris...
