Default 300 Series Parts and Availability

I have spoken to Volvo Car UK today and mentioned that there is concern from members and the club that a lot of 300 series parts are unavailable. I stated that there are rumours that Volvo Sweden are scrapping parts, which if true is worrying.

My message has been passed on to the correct person and I have been promised a reply within a week.

I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything.

Very interested to be following this, I've done a (very) small amount of inquiring, George Mitchell of the Friends of the Volvo 300 club has also been looking into it, but seems to be pushed from pillar to post with not much information coming through.

I watch with interest, as someone who does 15k a year in 300's as a daily driver.

Hi guys,i have quite a number of 300 series spares from vehicles we have dismantled over the years,no manual props, but i do have door handles with keys, some lamps some good panels etc.If there is enough interest i can make a full list and post it on the forum. We dont get too much call for these parts now and i would be happy to sell them off cheaply to people who would use them rather than have them lying around.
Hope this helps,pm me or call on 01254 234382.
Regards,Adam.

Andy, I have first hand experience of the supply problem. I have spoke to 3 local specialists and my local main dealer and they are all saying the same "Most 300 parts are now unavailable". I work for a Car Dealer Group, from experience when parts become obsolete we generally sell them off in bulk to specialists (so many pennies in the pound). Surely someone out there is in possession of decent stock of "obsolete" Volvo parts.

Regards,
David

2 weeks have gone so I assume that Volvo UK are maintaining their usual high levels of service and customer satisfaction...

One chap who is worth a try for that hard to find part is Steve Quinn at Volvo Valley. He always seems to find that 'odd' bit you need, although my experience of him is through 240 & 480 models. Worth a try though.........

Default Update

I have chased VCUK about this and as yet have not had a definitive reply.

I will post any developments when I get them! I think (from reading between the lines) that the question has been put to Sweden but if any of you have tried to organise anything in Sweden you will know that they do not adhere to deadlines in the same way as we do!

Thanks

Bump! Thanks for getting on the case Andy. George Mitchell has indeed been trying long and hard to get a straight answer. The clowns at VCUK don't seem to have anything much to say for themselves...it's a question for Sweden.

If they're looking for a buyer for whatever stock remains...we need to know.

If they're thinking of severing links with the people who make the parts...we need to know. Once the panel presses are gone, they're pretty much gone.

cheers

James
