Im oin a PCP 48 month term with a D5 XC90 and have been put in a new XC90 every 12 months at present! Dealer rings me up and says he can put me in a new XC90 for the same monthly payment! Yes really. I can't believe it either but Im not going to argue. So I don't think its going to be an issue with you.

I have the same, although it's usually around 18 months. My current Momentum Pro actually came in less than my last Momentum (albeit Pro's didn't exist at that time) and with 5k miles more per year.

come to think of it, my current car is 18 months old.....waiting for the phone call...…!

The face lift XC90 now has a hybrid diesel so that might be the more future proof version to get, not clear if this replaces the D5 or if you can continue to buy that?

Hmm...how does this work then? I'm new to PCP. Bought my XC90 almost 2 years ago. My dealer never called me back to offer me a new XC90 for the same monthly payment!!

I still like my XC90 though, and have only done 11K miles.

I have no idea, although I have had about 7 cars from the same dealership in the last 10 years or so. They've always looked after me so I keep in touch, sometimes they seem to have certain vehicles in (or coming in) that they want to get rid of quickly. As long as the value of my car exceeds the outstanding finance then there is usually a deal to be done

On a PCP, you can voluntarily terminate (VT) the agreement once the vehicle is in positive equity. This is typically month 24-28 on a 48 month contract. My previous dealer called about month 30, again in month 36 and a couple of months before the car was due to go back.

Have a chat with the business/sales manager at your dealership or Volvo Financial Services. They can tell you whether you can VT the car or not.

When I returned my last vehicle, the BCA inspector suggested that a car that is VT'd is scrutinised a bit more than one that is at the end of it's contract. Take that with a big bag of salt.

Mine is on a 35 month PCP and my dealer is keen for me to change it now, at 24 months. If the payments remain the same, then I may well be tempted to another 36 month PCP.

I had considered buying it at the end of 36 months, but £32k will be too much to pay I feel. I could try knocking the finance company down to £25k to save them taking it to auction of course. My dealer may want it to retail as far as that goes. I'll ask them for figures some time next week.

I had PCP finance on my Mk1 XC90, and was never contacted by the dealer and offered a newer car.

What gives???

Is this a new Volvo initiative relating only to the SPA model, or is it only for certain customers, or individual dealerships?

I agree I think a lot of people would change to a new vehicle if offered these deals. My friend is constantly changing his Mini cooper after 18-24 months as the dealer keeps beating his monthly payments. He has never changed tyres in the last 10 years because he hasn't kept the car long enough.
