If it is a 2D (1.6) then yes this engine is what I'd describe as no where near good enough for the car unless your a complete economy freak! Very much lacking in power and very sluggish on the acceleration.

Sorry SonyVaio, I don't agree with this. Yes the 1.6 does not have the pull of the 2.0 but it's not as bad as the impression you give.

This car will still pull fully loaded well, but you will have the advantage of much better economy if you drive it averagely, or fantastic economy if you are able to drive under the right conditions.

When I went from a 2 to a 1.6 the difference was not obvious.

I can remember talking to a Volvo rep about seven years ago saying that Volvo should expand the choice and bring out the 1.6d.
He laughed saying not enough power, and gues what, three years later we have a 1.6d.

am not being funny but having driven both a D2 and a 2.0D it is not much different minus initial and upto about 55 but beyond that the 2.0D definitely has the legs well and truely.

the obvious problem with the D2 is 1/2 the valves but it definitely is more gruntish the 2 at 60/65 and beyond.

Just got back from the dealers, alot quicker than I got there!!!!
Oh baby! Now I'm a happy bunny!
It was a pipe that had come off the fuel valve (think he said that)
Feels like the Jetta did now, but I think the V50 is a nicer, smoother drive on top.
Got to go back Tuesday for the aircon testing and recharging, not very effective at tho moment.
Volvo Selekt hey!!!

Glad you got it sorted!
You could always put a piggy back chip on which will increase power to just under 400 Nm,really wakes them up.

Ya, they did mention the condenser would be tested and a new one fitted if need be. Not great on a 2 year old car.
I'm happy with the car as it is, now its sorted and I don't want to jeopardise my warranty by fitting a chip at the mo.

Glad you got it sorted, there had to be something wrong with the car by the way described the lack of power.

Happy motoring!
