Only ruined by too many being serially neglected and bodged time and time again due to their ability to withstand punishment.

I might be biased as I've owned mine for 14 years now... but I also own a Morris Minor and know which is the better engineered car.

Others:

Rover P6. Funky suspension gives great ride and handling. Quiet, quick and capable.

Original Mini. I'd love to drive one, never have.

W126 Mercedes. I love every mile driving a decent V8 one. Even tired ones have real presence and feel special.

Struggling to come up with a 5th at the moment...
Try ls400 mate, a w126 stripped down and rebuilt by obsessive compulsive Japanese engineers..and yet...a 560sel is one of my lottery cars!!

I saw a Senator in Majorca last year, and even though it must be 2 decades (or more) since the police last used a Senator in the uk, I still instinctively checked my speed and tried to look innocent...
The other option was someone wanting to avoid the police....you can decide....

I'm sure the LS400 is more precise than the W126. I'd like to drive one someday.

Sometimes flaws make something more perfect

Going back to the Ford 'Grandads' (deliberate spelling) mentioned.

I had a 2.8 Ghia auto some years back. Without doubt, the most comfortable car I've ever been wafted around in and a pleasure to be behind the wheel. It was like being in a comfy arm chair. And everything was just so effortless.

For a while, it was getting me between Cumbria and Essex return journeys on a weekly basis. And never a need to stop to stretch the legs or straighten the back.

Unfortunately, the dreaded tin-worm got into awkward places. So it had to go. It did, however, get a bit of the way to the deposit for the next car (something a bit more economical to run!).

Loved the Mk.1 & 2 Granadas. The hatchback Mk.3 will never be classic IMO & just what were they thinking with the bug-eyed Scorpio

I would quite like a top spec bug eye Scorpio, I remember the leather being sumptuous and the cabin vast, you can't see the outside from the drivers seat!!
