i stubbled across this forum only a few days ago, and now i am hooked.

I need to find time to sort out the rear wheel arches, ideally they need chopping out and skinning again with fresh steel. But ive not got a clue on how much that should cost to do before a paint job.

Is it easy to convert a 440 rear drums to disc? Looking around i found that the turbo had discs on the back. To me it should like a simple switch out the parts from a turbo model.

currently the mileage is 138K and i reckon the stock 89hp has some what dropped since it was new, any ideas of simple servicing to get some horses back?

Since i've had the car, HT leads and sparks have not been changed, i expect they should be done soon 3 years since i took over ownership, but only covered 1.5K miles in the previous 2 years due to it sitting at home whilst i was at uni.

I would love to get this car back to show room condition, and if its still going 2 years from now i might even consider a re-built 1.7 turbo engine to fit. As the way i see it due to new road tax laws, older cars that can scream are the way to go, for only £140 a year, its a bargin if you think about it!

Changing the brakes to disc might not be a problem, but you may need to change the master brake cylinder (not sure about that with the 400 series, but i'd say you'd need to.)
I want to the same with my 460: bringing it back to showroom condition. Well, it won't ever be new but newish. Lot's of plastic bits and pieces go missing over the years, getting it mechanically back to shape etc. 400 series cars have good rust proof, except for the rear wheel arches. I have the same problem, looks nasty.
A quick way to check if you've lost horses (and approx. how many) is by doing a compression test.
