Default Help!!! poss wheel bearing issues

Hi All,

Have seen lots of threads regarding possible wheel bearing noise.

Well i will try and explain my problem. When driving at approx 25mph and over i get a humming type rumbling noise and i pretty sure this is coming from the passenger front left. This noise happens when driving on a straight road but does dissapear if i turn left slightly or full on, then reselp as this si driving
resumes when i start to turn right again.

Thanks
Laurie

Hi

Just put a new front left wheel bearing in my S40 last friday ... sounds like the early stages to me, but mine did that, almost went off when turning left but got alot worse when turning right ( as the load came onto the bearing )
Mine got gradualy worse over a couple of hundred miles till I was able to isolate it, eventuly you could feel it through the steering wheel as you turned right & the noise became horrendous.
Although when I changed the bearing there was no play & only slight roughness in the old bearing

Brill thanks for the advice, yea i have slight vibration in the steering wheel, more than anything it's really anoying specially on long journeys. Is this the sort of thing that a novice like myself could do?

S40 06 front wheel bearing

Have look just not far down the S40 04 onwards page to my link written as above, a couple of the other guys far more knowledgable than myself on Volvo's have posted info on how to do the job.
Have read of it & see what you think, I would say you do need some mechanical knowledge though & you do need a press to get the brg assembly in & out
