'06 S40 Wing Mirror Covers.

Hi all,
new to the forum here so I hope I'm posting in the right place and hope someone can help.

Yesterday I made the terrible decision to let my father drive my 06' S40 se model and he promptly managed to hit the passenger side wing mirror and has broken the cover off the back. A couple of the plastic clips have broken inside but there are still 2 or 3 holding firm. However, when I attempt to refit the cover it simply does not want to go on.

Is there a certain technique I'm missing or will I need to buy a new cover as all the clips are required to hold the thing in place?
