Default Rear Numberplate Bulb Failed

Just a quick Q, hoping someone can save me some time and hassle:

One of the bulbs on my rear numberplate light has failed, is it a straight forward unscrew and bulb swap of the lamp holder or is anything else required.

If it is just a single bulb swap, am I correct that this is the right one?

V50 Numberplate bulb at Halfords

Thanks muchly.

yes just unscrew, you might find the contacts were the lamp slides in are oxidised and need cleaning up.

I'd replace them for LED bulbs, save you having to do them for a very very very long time.

Well I just found a good way to kill a lunch hour - drove to Halfords to a get a new bulb but decided to take the dead one in with me only to find that that contact was showing a bit of corrosion. Cleaned up and now working again.

Foolishly I still went into Halfords and came out £20 lighter due to the current offer on car cleaning stuff!

Can anyone recommend a good replacement LED bulb for the back numberplate lights on a 06 S40?

Bazz,

LEDS - I have them on mine but dont get the cheap ones

I bought ones like these and they last for ages. You get that BMW/Lexus number plate look.
