Hu803 upgrade software download cost?

Having installed my hu803 radio from the hu603 I am delighted with the quality of sound, especially the pro logic. The 200w under seat amp and a china mp3 box works wonderful!

Before I seek my center speaker does anyone know the general cost of the hu803 software 'reload' at the main dealer to enable the back lighting and steering controls?

And if this can be done with a £85 quid dice unit from ebay??
Would be interesting to know if this functionality can be enabled from home with vida.

I have the Dice unit myself but I'm not sure if its like a 'patch' that needs downloaded. Perhaps I'll give greers of Antrim a ring today.

Can't be done with a cloned DiCE and cracked Vida (as commonly available from China / fleabay). You need a pukka copy of Vida and a subscription to the Volvo servers for the downloads.

OK, well the first main dealer I rang here said he had never heard of this upgrade and that I was the first to ask. I told him to consult his tech department and get back to me which I doubt. The second dealership said that it cannot be done unless it's a new radio!

Now I also emailed a very respected guy on here who repairs the dim's and he said that yes he can do it but he would need the car, not a matter of sending both radios to him like a DIM repair/clone. I'd take his word first over the two silly dealerships here.

There must be a clever way to solve this one.

On the Vida it seems I can order the software needed. I just need an account..

It's not as easy as you think it is.
Can't be done on fake dice and cracked vida.

But it can be done at a dealership (or with a genuine setup) even with a secondhand radio?

P.s Anyone know the difference between an AUM reload and AUM upgrade?

Can be done with second hand radio. Upgrade upgrading software. Reload is reloading existing(in your case changing to right one)

I was told it couldn't be done. The radio talks to the rest of the cars ecu's when first built. This is to stop theft etc.
If it can be done then i stand to corrected, but when i looked into it when the cd changer packed-up it couldn't be done. I swapped over the cd changer instead.
