I'd also add that this has all the hallmarks of not being genuine. Hopefully it is and it's my suspicious mind working overtime but scant details and random e-mail address and story that the car is far away and cannot be viewed and peculiar member name and advert placed at 5am.

Maybe unfair but very smelly in my view.... BEWARE.

Exactly my first thoughts ^^^^^

Also 14000mls on Jersey is probably the equivalent of 200,000 motorway miles on the mainland.

Given that there are over 2000 people in France with the surname Le Feuvre, and Jersey with its heavy French influence has over 1000 people with that surname, just under 10% of the island's population, calling it a peculiar member name may be a little hasty.
When I hired a car in Jersey I found it a pleasant enough place to drive, mostly country lanes where 30 mph was plenty and if I remember correctly the top speed limit was 40mph so 1000 miles per summer for 19 years sounds about right. There used to be quite an industry on the south coast of England importing Jersey hire cars at the end of the summer, my sister bought one and was happy with it for years.

But yes, as with all distant car purchases buyers should exercise suitable caution.

It could easily be like the endless stream of Volvos at £1212 , on eBay, with an email address.

Just trawling for suckers!🧐

I see your thinking but work it through. France has a population of 67.5 million, so for 2000 of them to have that surname that's one in 33,750 of the population. Hence if you multiplied the French population of Jersey by 34 there is a strong chance one of them would be a Le Feuvre.

I'm being pedantic of course, but on spec the advert reeks of scam. I notice our friend hasn't been logged in since he placed the advert so I might just e-mail him to see what his car is all about?

So a new member joins the forum and posts a car for sale. Then never comes back again to check for interest/offers etc.

Have to admit that side is a downer, but it's not uncommon, someone wants to sell a Volvo - let's go to the Volvo Forum! In some cases it may be someone just selling the car of a passed relative so they are not going to become keen forum members, but even then a slightly more comprehensive advert/post and a little follow up would be nice.

Yes, I agree. There are plenty of folks who join the forum to sell a car and then disappear. However, any sensible person would compose a decent ad with the relevant details and would come back on to check interest. It does say email me but we all.know folks on the net don't read things and do as they are asked so best to log in to check on progress.
