Does it still have the original bound rubber vacuum seals? I had a problem with a set that had persihed and you couldn't see the damage at all, it produced these exact same symptoms, including nasty black soot spewing out the exhaust. replaced with some silicone piping and sorted it right out.

hi.

have you checked or had checked your exhaust manifold inlet gasket as mine was blown to bits i had what can only be described as a misfire and was burning rich which progressively got worse over about 2 months if i was at traffic lights stationary car would run very rough on idle i replaced everything ht leads,sparks,dizzy,rotor arm,idle control valve, m.a.p sensor
even compression and injector tests and it was still the same.
i spoke to the technitions at volmech in stockton and he said that the exhaust manifold inlet gasket are prone for breaking down and failing and this causes the engine not to run properly on idle.
