A well-known problem if the car has been standing....
There are companies that overhaul/exchange calipers, although I've never used any; quote VIN-number if approaching anybody, as I don't remember if there are more than one type. I do know there are at least two differing master cylinders: my '68 142S had a Wagner MC which was shot. However the makers are American and don't deal with the public. Fortunately I got one via an English classic-car parts supplier who had an agent over the pond. That car had a long 'tube' linking the MC to the servo on the drivers side. However, just looked on my '70 145 here and see the MC is adjacent the servo on the n/s but from its resting place couldn't see if a Wagner too. Don't be fobbed-off with being told its the same as the 164 - it isn't. Although the hydraulic connections seem the same the mounting bolts to the servo are more on my 145 and the overall length is different - don't know about internals. P |

Postage and the various import duties/taxes are indeed high. Cheaper if a UK place; not cheap from Europe either - some European enthusiasts find parts cheaper over here.

Brake Calipers
I used a company called Brakes International, based in Rochdale for rear calipers last year. Good price and helpful staff. Tel 01706,666999 or www.brakesint.co.uk.
