I once put 85 100mm concrete blocks in my V40. Talk about low suspension. Rear was nearly on the stops. I drove all the way from Bishops Stortford to South London. No damage.

No good for family camping then?

(so long as you do not have five 100kg+ passengers as well..lol)
I took 3 average sized (~80KG) lady passengers and myself to a festival last summer with the car jammed to the roof with tents, gazebo, food and various other gubbins. I roughly calculated that I was approaching or over the limit on tyre load capacity (540KG x 4 = 2160KG and the unladen weight is 1700!) and I am quite sure there was more than 450KG in total inside the car. I was still overtaking and stopping without any trouble so my main worry was tyre explosion. It didn't happen.

You'd have a job overloading it. But bricks & concrete weigh more than you'd think. I bust the rear suspension on my Golf carrying bricks around.

Default 300 kg in v40 boot

Yesterday I put 303 kg of scrap metal (800 used horse shoes in fact) in the boot of my 53-plate V40. It was riding low at the back, but managed the 20 mile trip with no ill effects.

I've had a VW Golf engine in the boot of my V40 these weigh about 140kg. I had two tool chests at around 40kg each as well. Add to that two mechanics in the car to help me lift the engine out, the car was carrying about 420kg. It struggled up hills!
