Default Brake lights

Hi, all 4 brake lights on my V70 2.5t 2004 have stopped working although the high level boot strip works.
I've checked fuses and can hear relay, the brake pedal switch was stuck but now free. All bulbs changed for new.
Any ideas please? I've tried searching the forum but am struggling with that
Thanks Keith

Hi.

From the circuit diagram there are only 2 fues one relay and a shunt in the circuit.

So I would suggest you pull fuse 11D/14 in the REM

then with someone pressing the brake pedal use a volt meter to test between the fuse terminals and a good ground point on the body you should fine a 12v supply on one side of the fuse.

if you do fine 12v on one side of the fuse then the fault is in the wiring between the rem and the rear light clusters.

if you don't fined 12v at the fuse then look at the relay ( most probable suspect, just because it clicks does not mean its working correctly) or the shunt or the main fuse 11/D3 in the REM

Thank you, and the led strip would still work if it's relay? Thanks again

Yes.
This is a reasonably well known problem.
Sometimes due to the relay.
The old single relay was superceded by two separate relays.
Loads of thread here about it
Post #4 here give another few ideas
