Default Facelift XC60 VEA FWD Geartronic Polestar optimisation

Hi, From some forums, the Polestar software tweak is quoted as being good for mid-range performance and slicker gear changes. With an auto, is the midrange power/torque difference noticeable? Compared to my previous car (Mercedes 250Cdi) the Volvo Sport vs normal gear selector makes a heck of a difference. In the Mercedes, it made very little difference. So, if the Polestar makes the regular transmission feel more like the Sport, what does it do to the Sport? Does it make it snappier too, or does it just diminish the difference between the two? Cheers.

its only 19 hp but makes more than 10% difference in real world situations.
you wont regret it.
I did have to think about keeping mine, or go for the RS6, ok completely different league in terms of speed but it puts you top of the Exec's in the fast lane when you need it and you'll have fun suprising a few out there!

I ran a V60 D4 and now have a V40 T5, both optimised by Polestar and both with the 8-speed Geartronic. My experience with both cars is that you find yourself needing to use the Sport mode less and just let the increased mid-range torque do the work. As a result, the fuel economy doesn't suffer. On the contrary, in fact, it actually improved very slightly.

I'm just about to pick up my 3rd XC60 - the "heritage" 2017 model ;-) Its a D4 AWD R Design Lux and exactly the same spec as my current one aside from being an auto box this time. Still worth the (currently quoted) £835 inc vat or is there normally a deal to be had?

We had ours done last Saturday. You need to log in to your Volvo, make sure your preferred dealer is the one you are talking to.

Go onto the offers, and on the polestar upgrade, click enquire. The dealer will then get a ref number, which he can off set the discount on.

Sounds like the dealer needs to sharpen his pencil as he should know about this offer

I'm not sure what you mean by "what it does to the Sport"? Volvo don't do a Sport version of the XC60 FWD VEA. They do an R-Design version which is just cosmetically different, apart from the harder suspension.

The Polestar web site give pretty clear details and everyone seems to like it that has it done.

Yes, the parts departments usually know.
