Noticable difference depends upon how bad the old bush was, it only needs changing if it is split. Some people notice smoother gear change and less engine noise, basically the engine moves less.

The reason for changing is that when this mount is split it puts extra strain and movement on the lower engine mounts causing them to fail early.

Ive just changed the mount on my D5 - great instructions, thanks!

Only thing is there is still a bit of movement in the cross stay bar (this is ok I read on a different thread) what is confusing me is there seems to be some movement in the mount, between the black inner bit and the outer casing.

Is this right? Its the new style mount. I have done the centre bolt up to 80nm which is the setting in the Haynes

Incidently my old one, the inner has totally come appart from the outer!

Cheers

Sam

Yes it is fine , the centre bush in the new type isnt bonded at all to the outer casing so it will move a bit , that is why it is caged , it should last a lifetime now :-)

Excellent instruction.

Have replaced the top mount on my V70 2.4 petrol.

Only slight differences to contend with and probably a little easier than as described for the diesel. Now if only the wishbone bushes and ball joints were just as simple!!!!

Thanks

Thumbs up other engine mount IPD

I've just received new IPD engine bush for my D5 and here you have some photos of it ... I will mount it in one week time ... there will be more photos (new QBM end links and lower engine mount and XC90 bolts to kill knocking sound in front) ... also I will post some of recent job, which I've done and allredy in car: IPD sway bars (25 and 22mm), powerflex bushes front and rear and Eibach springs It's been done in summer so we can see how they look like now

Look forward to seeing thoses posts. What is the IPD reference for the mount? I could only see what loooked to be for petrol mount...at least it didnt say inllcude or will fit D5? linky?
Is it just a case of cuttting out the old and then slide in the new from either side as per the old 850 topmount?

Default SuperPro - D5 Top Engine Bush

Folks

Gave my old girl a full service yesterday, and guess what, the top mounting torn to shreds.

I'm in the trade, restoring classic vehicles, and I have an account with SuperPro, the largest manufacturer of urethane bushes.

This is the same item as the IPD unit, see :

http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-V70-2001...p-127-379-233/

Is anyone interested in a group buy - I will check the price, but it should be around £25 plus a couple of quid P+P.

I don't know how IPD can sell them at $22.10, but when you add tax, import duty and shipping, you will be close to £25 anyway. These are in stock in UK, and will be with you in 1-2 days

I've got one on order, and will post up details tomorrow, when it lands.

Reply here if interested.
