I've just checked my upper engine mount and it's completely shot so needs replacing. Where is the best place to buy a replacement unit? Am I looking at a main Stealer for it, or can it be bought from the usual suspects like Elkparts and PFV?

Many thanks

Genuine mount is about £55 from your local friendly dealer...

Harratt's of Wakefield quoted £47 inc vat for the mount, and I've found a bloke on ebay selling them for ~ £40 inc postage if it helps anyone. Any one know anywhere cheaper?

Found a replacement bush on elkparts that seems to suggest the knackered inner rubber part of the mount can be taken out and replaced with a polyurethane replacement from Powerflex. Has anyone tried this method instead of swapping the whole unit?

Cheers

Just done mine. Next to no mechanical experiance other than changing the oil etc, but apart from dropping a spanner down inside the engine bay and a bit of inventive cursing, got it done inside of an hour.

The car feels a lot better when being chucked round a corner and will enjoy giving it a bit of pain on the way into work later

I think I need a new top mount for my v70 D5- I'm confused over whether it's possible to buy a poly bush for the D5 engine top mount- the guy I spoke to at powerflex says there's one listed but none of the powerflex retailers i've called agree I think he may be mistaken.

Has anyone bought and fitted one - or in fact any other aftermarket top mount bush for the D5?

Thanks

yes, and no

I'm currently working with the development team at Powerflex to finalise the design of a new bush for the D5, to re-use the old carrier and replace just the circular bush itself.

I've been an supplier of SuperPro for several years, but the bush they list is for petrol V70 only. SuperPro actually rebrand bushes from Australian outfit Fulcrum Eng, and Fulcrum have no plans to introduce a D5 model.

I approached Powerflex with the spec of the old circular bush, and they have given me a first pass unit for testing. It is pretty close to the final product, and I'd say it should be ready within 4-6 weeks.

Can you wait that long

Here's the prototype, installed into the carrier

And this is ready for a months eval testing

I'm impressed with the quality and service from Powerflex, and I'll let you know when the unit is ready for production.
