XC60 delivery timescale (replacing my XC90)

Had a call from the dealer to say that the car now has a build date of 5th April with delivery expected by end June. I know shipping times are extended these days but 2.5 months to get from China?

Meanwhile the online order tracking status has changed 'Production complete' from 8 Sep 2023 to 22 Jan 2024. So this particular entry would appear to be when the status was updated rather than an actual production date.

For context my XC60 Recharge was ordered February 2023, built 24th August 2023 and delivered to the UK dealer on 27th November 2023. A shipping time of 3 months from build date is not unusual, there will be some variability depending on how long it takes for a full batch to be at the port ready for shipping.

Just taken delivery of a MY24 XC60 recharge ultimate earlier this week. Ordered back end of July. Car was built early October so 2.5 months from build is probably about right.

Ordered an XC60 Ultimate T8 mid-Dec and spoke to the dealer today - apparently all MY24 build slots have been filled, so anything awaiting a build slot will be a MY25 model (so mine would be Ultra rather than Ultimate).

MY25 model year is from May onwards (or from June, can't recall) but they are to be built in Europe rather than China now...whilst a build slot may be later than one built in China, the European made car could arrive earlier.

Cars made in China take 12 weeks from build to delivery at the moment apparently

Just ordered a XC60 Plus Black Edition this morning. No rush to get it as my current lease expires September 2024. Hopefully have it before then.

Does any take any notice on the build schedule on the app?
I ordered mine last week and now it says "queued for production"

Mine says exactly that so I emailed them. In reality, it’s got a build date of April.

Latest update from dealer is of a further (short) delay so that car should now arrive in July.

The various delays are annoying especially as I'll be abroad (with my car) for some of June and July so it's difficult to make plans around it.

Volvo cars are showing production of my T8 Recharge ordered 9th Sept was 'production complete' 24th January (despite my dealer saying car was built pre christmas awaiting shipping to Bristol) I guess this is when leaves the factory ?Will ask for an update and report back..

Very strange. Same car and mine was ordered a day earlier on 8 Sep yet wide disparity in production/delivery dates.

The only variables are paint (mine Silver Dawn) and leather (mine Blond).

EDIT: And possibly wheels.
