1.8 S40 Mpg
Thinking of joing you guys and getting a 1.8 s40.
Just wondering if anyone can give real world mpg figures both city and motorway. reasonably light footed. Thanks |

Heres the official figures for the B4184S Engine (1.8) S40/V40:
MPG (l/100 km) Urban: 23,6 (12) Extra Urban: 42,2 (6,7) Combined: 32,9 (8,6)

Official figures for the Volvo S40 1.8S Phase 2. Year 2002 (manual 5 speed)
Combined - 36.2mpg Urban - 25.7mpg Extra urban - 47.1mpg My own experience is the fuel consumption is "average" If insurance is not an issue then you might as well buy a 2.0T or T4 as they aren't far behind in overall fuel consumption and they are considerably quicker. My 1.8 is surprisingly not that much better than my mums 9-5 2.3 Aero (250hp) drive the Saab with care and it's impressively eco for it's size and power.
