Blown head casket
Hi folks i have just joined this forum as i need to hear from others re - dealers
Yesterday i was driving from Nottingham to Lincoln when i had a red warning triangle with the message engine coolant low stop safely, as i was opposite a Volvo dealership i pulled in to top up, the technician said he would like to have a look so took the car into the work shop on returning i was told that there was no coolant in the system and that it was likely that the head casket had blown. My car is 3 months out of warranty so they said they would contact Volvo for a good will contribution what he then told me i was gobsmacked he said Volvo needed to know what the problem was and they would have to drop the engine to investigte and that i wold have to pay £860 for this I then contacted Volvo assist who agreed to recover me and car back to my dealership in Nottingham, when i arrived back in Nottingham the service manager asked if Lincoln had done a pressure test which they had not so it went into the workshop when 15 mins later he returned to say that i had a split hose and that he had ordered one and my car would be ready tomorrow [today], as yet i dont know what the cost will be but i am sure it wont be £860, i am still absolutley fuming at this.will let you know cost later. Can anyone beat this. Three hours' labour for a hose? Sounds a bit excessive - is there an awful lot of dismantling to get at this hose...?

Sounds to me like the 1st dealership you called at was trying to do a "kwik fit" on you, either that or their "technician" is only worth paying in peanuts (think monkey)
