Default V90 door mirror covers

I bought a pre registered V90 R Design on the 1st March this year . It was a my2019 with 24 miles on the clock and I was aware of that. It took me about 2 days of ownership to realise that the silver door mirrors are UGLY> (The car is Onyx Black). 3 weeks and 767 miles later Covid 19 struck and the car has sat on the drive ever since. Yesterday I noticed that a bird had *ra*ed on the bonnet resulting in paint damage. I'm hopeful its a Chipsaway job. If so I want to have the mirror covers resprayed black to match the body colour. I would want them sprayed off the car hence my question.

Many thanks,

Frank.

Now, where's my air rifle.

I agree with you about the ugly silver mirrors, but I can't see a specific question in your post. You have to be quick getting bird dropping off on this modern paint lacquer it soon gets burnt into by it.

Guess I was still raging over the paint damage
The unasked question is, How do you remove the plastic covers on the door mirrors?

I think you just need a plastic trim removal tool to prise them off, I have seen a video of the old model covers being removed so I would imagine the new model although slightly different can be removed the same way. Ironically putting silver covers on a lighter coloured car, but silver on black just no.

The silver door mirror covers are a R Design feature, so I guess it could be a Marmite thing for some people. Personally, if you are planning on colour coding the covers I'd leave it to a decent paint/bodyshop to do. Should not cost a kings ransom, being a new car I'd also consider getting a ceramic coat put on. Had mine done and it does help with the bird deposits, the local starling colony treat my drive as a bombing practice run.. The Onyx Black does look good but is a bugger to keep on top of. Hope you get things sorted.

Waiting for Polestar upgrade...
