Question Clarification re: 'official' aftermarket phone kit

Hi all,

My first post here, as I'm about to buy my first Volvo and would be grateful for some guidance on what my options are for installing an 'as official as possible' handsfree/bluetooth kit. I have tried searching the forums but I haven't been able to figure this out.

The car is a 2010 XC70 2.4 D SE Geartronic, and as far as I can tell it does not have any bluetooth or phone system installed.

I've used a Parrot system (MKi9000) in my Golf for years and it has been quite unreliable, so I'd like to know if it is possible to retrofit an 'official' Volvo phone kit into this car. If so, is there anywhere I can get more information on this, or should I just go and see my nearest Volvo dealer? If this isn't possible, what is the next best thing?

I would ideally like this system to support bluetooth audio streaming as well, and allow me to control my iPhone's music from the steering wheel. Not sure if this is requires a separate system or whether I can get a Parrot-esque 'all in one' solution.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

The Volvo Bluetooth module doesn't have an iPod function, it's just a little silver thingy on the dash somewhere and is all voice controled. It works really well IMO and the volume is adjusted via the cars audio controls. It's as good as having the full factory support.

I have no idea how much it would cost to fit as my car came with it. Do be aware the ISO SOT leads for Volvo's are awfully expensive as the stereo is a complicated fibre optic thingy and it depends which stereo you have as to which lead you need.

A friend of mine has an MKi9000 and also hates it but my Dad has an MKi9200 in his Alfa 159 and really likes it.

If you want an all in one unit try a Motorola TK30, had one in my old 407 and it's very good and full iPod functionality

My car has an iPod lead and a USB input but it doesn't appear to be a Volvo fitment, works really well though and you browse the iPod through the cars controls etc

From my recent findings, Volvo no longer supply or fit a Bluetooth kit for the V70's.

If anyone else knows anything more, I'd love to get one sorted also. Other than this, it is a Parrot for me

Are you sure there is no bluetooth phone system? Is there a little round microphone in the headlining above the drivers head?

I know for sure I don't.
I have had the factory fitted bluetooth in other Volvos of mine, there is no 'Phone' button and I've double checked the spec with my local dealership.
