55-51sn
A few questions.
Are there any difference between the 55-51sn for v70 and xc70? If we buy one body valve will it be plug and play or there is another procedure to do? Vida tells me my gearbox is a 55-50SN but the tag says 55-51SN 8675 148 Serial 03EV700659 ?????? Im thinking getting a used body valve for 55-51SN and recondition it. What expects me in terms of fail?? Many Thanks |

There was a great post where the fellow mentioned that there were 2 different plugs available on valve bodies. I cannot remember the specifics.

From what I have read on us xc owners forums the valve bodies are not specific.
There are however different versions no casting and A on the valve body casting have solenoids in different locations to the newer B version. If you buy a new one then it will be a B. If yours is it not a B then you need to extend wiring. My advice buy a new body or recond one. Don't buy a seconds hand one as are prone to failure on the early models. If you are buying a gearbox to replace it has to be a aw55 51sn due to the awd sleeve to the transfer box.

Hi.
Year 2005 and up should have a B5 Valve control valve spring fitted. Earlier vehicles should not. As for the valve body assemblies .. A and B internals are practically identical. C and No Letter internals are practically identical. Spring ratings and check-valves being the notable differences. The more stuff you change out the more of the gearbox adaptation process you will have to do. This requires VIDA. |

The valve-pack assemblies have a casting letter on them...
from the earliest = no letter , then A , B , and C. |
