For previous cars I've created my own driving compilations but I think that rather than re-tag all my self-made compilations, instead I'll copy most/all my music onto a USB stick or iPod and create 'driving' playlists instead. I haven't experimented with playlists yet but I suspect it may be an easier way of doing it. Obviously, compilation albums you've bought will need to be tagged as above.

Incidentally, everything I've read on this subject suggests that Volvo have implemented the artists tags wrongly. Taking the above example, Artist and Album Artist would be transposed so that the Album Artist would be 'Various on Drive 5' and the Artist for each track would be the actual artist on the track. Seems logical that way too. I think Apple implement it this way so changing your tags could mess up iTunes and therefore iDevices. I try to avoid iTunes so I can't be certain on this.

Have done this but for some reason I still get an entry for every song on a compilation in album view. I have about 60 albums with the same name in album view. Going to experiment.

Thanks for the detail and screenshots. Will give it a try

I haven't had chance to play too much with this yet, however I'm sure I've read somewhere that Sensus doesn't re-read and cache all song data from a USB stick if you take it out and re-insert. Is there perhaps something you need to do to convince Sensus that it needs to re-read the data?

Yes I think you may be right, but not sure how. Also I think it has a file name limit.

Anyone know an easy way to get Sensus to re recognise a USB stick, it seems to keep the same info even when I change the ID3 tags.

Don't know of a way to do it but you could try just renaming the stick in Windows while keeping the data intact but I suspect Sensus ignores the name anyway. Other thing to try is to copy all the data off the stick, re-format it and copy the data back. Again, not sure if that'll work but it's fairly easy to do.

Lastly, what about inserting a different stick with just one track on it and seeing if that forces a re-indexing then insert the original stick.

I am wondering if it is best to look at playlists as Lexman mentioned. This is just too much messing around just to get sensus to see it right.

Tried a playlist and it does not see it, again I do not think it is picking up changes. Have tried a different stick and different USB sockets so far. So frustrating as this should be so simple. Would have none of this if it could just see folders like my Mercedes did.

There's something a bit odd going on. I'm fairly sure I've changed stuff and it has been detected. If I've time tomorrow I'll try changing something and see what happens.

I agree about the folder view. Everyone understands the Artist/Album/Track folder structure so why not, at the very least, make it an optional view.
