Default XC90 T8 R Design just ordered

Hi All

Long time lurker.

Just ordered:
T8 R Design.
Winter plus HUD
Heated rear seats
Full leather
Apple CarPlay
Xenium
Subwoofer
Crystal white.

Just finished extended 2 day test drive and really impressed with blend of quality/practicality/design/economy/performance.

My current BMW 2014 3 series touring 335d xdrive I will miss for sure but I need more space and more economy and I like the plug-in as can commute to and from work without using any fuel.

I test drove BMW/Merc/Audi equivalents (X5/GLE/Q7) and all have merits but the T8 was the best blend of all for my needs.

Have driven BMWs for past 6 years....so will take some getting use to "Sensus" after Idrive and I never thought I would be spending £68k on a Volvo!!! but it's a handsome beast and a great drive so took the plunge!!

Having read in great depth the road noise 'debate' 20inch wheels I was keen to assess this on my test drive (T8 R Design August 2016 20 inch no air) and to be honest on certain road surfaces the road noise was more noticeable but certainly less than the Q7 (on 20inch) but more than X5 (21 inch).

Expecting a March delivery and looking forward to it.

Will update with photos etc.

Congratulations!! You'll love it!

I've also come from a BMW and love the senses - many more options to customise compared to idrive.. only thing I don't like is the lack of built in RTTI without getting a separate SIM card...

Apart from that I love the car... you've made a good choice

I have just ordered the same in Onyx Black (2 weeks ago).

Coming from a 2013 Audi A3 it's a bit of a jump up in size and class, but looking forward to it!! Roll on June 2017 - my current ETA!!

Well done, pretty much my spec same colour as well. I would add the dynamic pack with 22s, worth the money imho (mine is a d5)...best car by miles having had rr sport, disco4 and x5 (all from current models), I think the volvo is the most relaxed drive, nice blend of safety and confort without being "pretentious" as I found to be the case with the rr

Off Topic, but how was the RR Sport? It was the only other car of this class I would have liked having discounted the Q7, X5, Merc & Korean options - but far too expensive for me to justify against the much more reasonably priced XC90. I think they look great though. What made you get rid of it?
