£570 from your local Volvo dealer - says it is compatible with 2017 S90

Only ever had one car with them, a loaner for 2-3 weeks. Never used them once

My opinion, save your money, had them on my previous XC60, I tried them, then forgot them.

I have had paddles on many cars (and do currently on 3). Use them everytime I drive. Love it.

I made enquiries about paddles for a V90CC.
No-one at dealership was available at the time I asked and Volvo UK have yet to reply.
Yes, retro fitting to a car with heated steering wheel does seem to be a restriction (as per Jcbrown's helpful link) - yet the specs imply that ALL R-Designs have paddles, but Pro trim also features the Winter Pack - including a heated steering wheel - ergo: heated steering WITH paddles.
Nowhere does it say you forego paddles in favour of heated wheel with Pro trim level.
So they must make Heated steering wheels with paddles, which would seem to make a nonsense of the accessory retro-fit restriction... IMHO.

Iirc, a heated steering wheel and paddles were not available together (on an XC90 at least) before the introduction of MY18 cars. In other words, retro-fitting with both features may be dependent on model year.

I've had them on my last three cars, never used them once.
If I'd wanted to change gears I'd have bought a manual lol

Try Chelmsford. Thus far I've found them the most helpful/customer centric in this broad neck of the woods.

It's not really that sort of car.

In the old XC90, manual gear selection helped overcome the auto's lethargy. But it's nowhere near as necessary in the new one (even non-PowerPulse).

Some folks not liking or using them is not really the issue here.
The point surely, is that those who DO want them should have the option? - not be fobbed off with technical 'reasons' which appear to be groundless!
Anyway, many main competitors' cars have them as standard on more than just one model/trim level, as do many smaller, 'lesser' cars (Honda, Hyundai etc) - so surely it should be easy for a brand of Volvo's stature to make such features more readily available to those who do want them - as they used to.
I factory-ordered them for £150 on my XC60 without any restrictions - so what's changed to make it technically impossible - expect on the R-Design Pro - apparently...?!

Its the way Volvo works. They have clear distinction between the model version, Momentum for your base spec, R-Design if you want something a little more sporty feeling and Inscription if you want something with a little more 'luxury'. Paddles fall into the sporty category, so are put on the R-Design.

I'm not saying its right (but I quite like the simplicity of it), its just fits with the minimalist and clean scandi approach. I agree it can be a little frustrating, if you really want something that doesn't fall within Volvo's interpretation of what owners want within each model.

I think trying to interpret Audi or BMW options where any number of combinations are available can be equally, if not more, frustrating too.
